Wolf Alice return with a new member and a new sound. Although retaining some of their characteristic lo-fi dreaminess in the B-side White Leather, Fluffy shows a distinctive change for the band. It’s louder and heavier, the descending bass riff piecing together the crashing guitar and drums. Ellie Rowsell’s vocals are captivating in the verses, low and offset almost creepily by the deep harmony, yet she holds nothing back on the chorus (although it is hard to make out exactly what she’s saying!) Wolf Alice are still fairly new and their fans are crying out for the band to post more of their work online. The positive reaction to this release shows that the future is definitely looking bright for this maturing quartet, and we should watch out for bigger things to come.
