Deptford Goth – Feel Real

Deptford GothTo clear things up – Deptford Goth is not from Deptford and he is not a goth. He is in fact Peckham-based artist Daniel Woolhouse, who is creating some of the most intriguing and interesting music I’ve heard in a while. His take on electronic “doom-pop” is gloriously dreamy and melancholy, soft vocals hiding behind layers of synthetic sounds and R&B infused beats. The video for his latest offering, Feel Real, premiered last night on Dazed Digital, coinciding with the release of his debut album Life After Defo which is out this week on CD and vinyl. Feel Real is more subtle than his previous release, the wonderful Union, which was the first track of his that caught my attention. Dripping with ethereal synths and fleeting harmonies, if his previous tracks are anything to go by then the album should be stunning.
