Oh Warpaint, my love for you will not die. In an industry dominated by males, Emily, Theresa, Jenny and Stella continue to make some of the most intricate and mesmerizing indie-rock around. Love Is To Die comes as the girls announce that their second album of the same name will be released at the start of next year. The track twists and turns, contradicting itself both musically and lyrically: the chorus indecisively croons “Love is to die/Love is to not die” whilst swiftly changing key from the verse. It’s driven forward by omnipresent percussion and a heavy bass-line, yet the vocals give it a haunting and ethereal atmosphere. There’s an underlying feeling of unease, but it’s enough to keep you hooked until the dreamy end.
