Apologies for the lack of posts on here recently. It’s exam time approaching soon, and I’d told myself that I wouldn’t get caught up with blogging and the like for a little while, just until the first wave of exams is over.
HOWEVER.
I tuned into BBC 6Music this evening, and Tom Ravenscroft proceeded to play the most stunning track I’ve heard in a while. If you’ll excuse the name, Bastard Mountain are a collective consisting of individuals from bands signed to the renowned indie label Song, by Toad. As pinched from their SoundCloud page, they are: Pete Harvey & Neil Pennycook from Meursault, Jill O’Sullivan from Sparrow & the Workshop, Rob St. John from eagleowl & Meursault, Rory Sutherland from Broken Records & Reuben Taylor from James Yorkston & the Athletes. Meadows Ghosts is hauntingly beautiful, layered with peculiar orchestral textures, and with an eerie guitar playing behind tear-inducing harmonies that waver slowly as if on the edge of some emotional cliff. It’s an incredible track, and I shall definitely be looking into these guys more closely in the future.
